The Fiji Australia Business Council (FABC) and the Australia Fiji Business Council are set to kick off their 2024 Joint Business Forum at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva today, with all seats sold out earlier this week.
The theme for this year’s forum is “New Challenges, New Solutions,” and it will feature a diverse lineup of speakers from both the Fiji and Australian governments as well as their private sectors.
Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has confirmed his participation, along with other notable speakers and industry experts.
The FABC stated, “Our premier business forum is where leading Fijian and Australian policymakers and senior business figures convene to address challenges, solutions, trends, and opportunities within the Fijian and Australian bilateral trade and economic landscapes.”
The FABC highlighted that investments are expanding in numerous sectors in Fiji including agriculture, fisheries, forestry, business process outsourcing, construction, manufacturing, energy, health, mining, tourism, and ICT products and services.
The forum aims to achieve more than just networking; it will also enhance understanding of the business opportunities and challenges between the two countries.
Additionally, the event will delve into innovation and global partnerships, offering insights into the emerging trends that will shape the region’s economic future, such as technology and infrastructure development.
Notably, the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP), which launched in 2019 with a budget of AUD 4 billion (FJD 5.98 billion), alongside the Fiji Tourism Development Program funded by the World Bank for USD 61.5 million (FJD 135 million), presents significant opportunities for Australian businesses in Fiji.
