Jackson Bernard Nato Evans has been appointed as Fiji’s High Commissioner Designate to Papua New Guinea. The commissioning ceremony was officiated by His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, the President of the Republic of Fiji, who extended his congratulations and good wishes to Evans as he steps into this significant diplomatic role.
Evans brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having spent over 35 years in military service. His previous role was as the Director of Force Development and Strategic Command at the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), a position he has held since 2011. Notably, he served as the Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion, Fiji Infantry Regiment during a mission in Iraq in May 2007.
His military accolades are impressive, having been recognized with the MFO Peacekeeping Medal for his contributions in Egypt. Furthermore, he has received the Multinational Forces Commanders Command Medal for Exemplary Leadership on two separate occasions, highlighting his exceptional capabilities in leadership and service.
With his extensive background and proven leadership skills, High Commissioner Evans is anticipated to strengthen the diplomatic ties between Fiji and Papua New Guinea, fostering cooperation and collaboration in various sectors.
