“Fiji and Tuvalu Prime Ministers Strengthen Bilateral Ties”

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka welcomed a courtesy call from Tuvalu’s Prime Minister, Feleti Teo.

In their first meeting since Prime Minister Teo’s appointment earlier this year, Rabuka reaffirmed Fiji’s support for Tuvalu’s plan to establish a community facility for the expanding Tuvaluan diaspora in Fiji.

Both leaders acknowledged the strong historical ties between Fiji and Tuvalu.

Prime Minister Teo highlighted the economic linkages and the contributions of the Fijian diaspora in Tuvalu, especially in roles like teaching, nursing, and medicine.

They also discussed the strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in key areas such as education, health, agriculture, climate resilience, and connectivity.

The leaders expressed their commitment to enhancing their relationship through a potential framework agreement that would cover all areas of cooperation.

Prime Minister Teo’s visit to Fiji underscores the mutual dedication to intensifying cooperation in light of current and emerging challenges.
