Fiji and Tuvalu Prime Ministers Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka welcomed Tuvalu’s Prime Minister Feleti Teo during a courtesy call. This was their first meeting since Teo’s appointment earlier this year.

Rabuka expressed Fiji’s support for Tuvalu’s initiative to establish a community facility for the Tuvaluan diaspora in Fiji. Both leaders emphasized the deep historical ties between their nations.

Prime Minister Teo acknowledged the economic connections and the contributions of the Fijian diaspora in Tuvalu, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare.

The leaders discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation in key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, climate resilience, and connectivity. They also considered forming a framework agreement to formalize their collaborative efforts.

Teo’s visit underscores the commitment of both countries to enhance their cooperation in light of ongoing and emerging challenges.
