Fiji and New Zealand are intensifying their collaborative efforts to combat drug-related issues and enhance community policing, reflecting a commitment to public safety and security in the region.
During a recent meeting, New Zealand High Commissioner Greg Andrews and Fiji’s Minister for Policing and Communications, Ioane Naivalurua, reaffirmed the robust partnership between the two nations. The discussion also recognized the contributions of outgoing New Zealand Senior Police Liaison Officer Glyn Rowland.
Naivalurua presented Fiji’s CVM–CMS approach, which focuses on community policing, maritime security, good governance, and inter-agency collaboration. He emphasized the importance of engaging with church leaders and local communities to bolster drug awareness initiatives across the nation.
Both Fiji and New Zealand expressed their dedication to ongoing cooperation in key areas, which promises to enhance joint efforts in addressing drug challenges and ensuring safer communities. This strengthened alliance is a hopeful sign of proactive measures aimed at improving public safety through community involvement and effective policing strategies.
