The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) have kicked off the Joint Officer Cadet Exercise Venture this week.
The exercise features forty cadets from the NZDF and thirty-two from the RFMF. It is divided into two phases. The first phase focused on semi-tactical survival training at the Savura Training Area, where the Third Fiji Infantry Regiment’s reconnaissance unit showcased survival techniques and protocols to both forces.
The second phase, known as Exercise Veitokani, took place at the Tailevu, Dawasamu Training Area. This phase allowed cadets to experience a foreign environment, helping them develop strategic decision-making skills as well as enhancing their operational abilities and management capabilities.
The aim of this field exercise is to explore military tactics and assess plans within a simulated combat scenario. It also seeks to improve the cadets’ ability to make swift decisions and manage resources and personnel under pressure.
