The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) is on the verge of signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Indonesia’s Corrections. Currently, FCS Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa is visiting Indonesia, where he has engaged with senior officials from Indonesia Corrections.
Both organizations have expressed a commitment to strengthening their cooperation in various sectors, particularly in the social reintegration of offenders. They also aim to focus on enhancing strategic leadership training and staff development within the FCS. Dr. Nakarawa emphasized that the impending MOU will serve as a framework for future collaboration.
A draft of the MOU is set to be prepared through diplomatic channels before it is officially ratified.
This partnership highlights a progressive step towards improving correctional systems and offender rehabilitation strategies, which can lead to a more effective reintegration process for offenders back into society. By sharing knowledge and resources, both countries can foster a safer and more supportive environment for those seeking to turn their lives around.
