Fiji and Indonesia Celebrate 50 Years of Friendship with Fun Walk

The 50th anniversary of the friendship between Fiji and Indonesia was celebrated with a fun walk organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the Fiji-Indonesia Friendship Association (FIFA), on Saturday.

The event began in the morning at Albert Park Lower Hall, continued to Takashi Suzuki Garden along Queen Elizabeth Drive, and then returned to Albert Park where participants enjoyed refreshments.

The fun walk was officially opened by Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Fiji Dupito D Simamora, acting President of Fiji Salesi Temo, and Fiji’s Ambassador to Indonesia Ratu Tui Cavuilati.

Ambassador Simamora emphasized that the walk symbolized the long and fruitful journey of the bilateral relationship, aimed at uniting communities in celebration and pledged for continued friendship and collaboration.

More than 400 people from Suva took part in the event, including members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives from the Fiji government, alumni of the Indonesian Scholarships for Fiji, students, families, and friends.

Students from Queen Victoria School also attended, symbolizing the close bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Fiji, particularly in the field of education.
