To mark this milestone, the Indonesian government intends to continue sharing successful development strategies that have been effective in addressing regional challenges, particularly in remote and outer islands. This initiative aligns with Fiji’s upcoming leadership role in the Melanesian Spearhead Group in 2025, presenting new opportunities to foster sustainable development and economic integration within the sub-region.

Future cooperation between Indonesia and Fiji will further support the 2050 Blue Pacific Strategy, emphasizing resilience and prosperity for Pacific communities. Recent initiatives include the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Indonesia and the Pacific Islands Forum, which addresses urgent issues such as maritime cooperation, sustainable development goals, disaster risk reduction, and humanitarian assistance.

Joko Widodo, including the establishment of the Fiji-Indonesia Friendship Association (FIFA) aimed at enhancing bilateral ties.
