Fiji Airways has welcomed its latest addition to its fleet, an ATR72-600 series aircraft, which was recently photographed during its handover in Toulouse, France. The transfer was facilitated by Airplane Xperts, a company based in France, which expressed gratitude towards Fiji Airways for the successful delivery of the aircraft just in time for Christmas.
On their LinkedIn page, Airplane Xperts shared, “Vinaka Vakalevu to our friends at Fiji Airways for the successful delivery of an ATR 72-600, MSN 1707, on Christmas Eve here in Toulouse.” They also acknowledged the support from the ATR team, highlighting the achievement of delivering the aircraft before the holiday season.
In August 2024, Fiji Airways entered into a lease agreement for three additional ATR72-600 aircraft from Nordic Aviation Capital. Currently, they operate two ATR72-600s through their domestic subsidiary, Fiji Link. These turboprop planes facilitate both domestic flights and routes to international destinations, including Port Vila in Vanuatu, Funafuti in Tuvalu, and Tongatapu and Vava’u in Tonga.
The acquisition of this new aircraft positions Fiji Airways for enhanced operational capabilities and improved service to its passengers. Furthermore, this expansion reflects the airline’s commitment to growth and modernization, paving the way for continued success in providing quality air travel across the region.
This optimistic development not only signifies Fiji Airways’ ongoing investment in its fleet but also promises to enhance connectivity and travel options for passengers in the South Pacific. With the arrival of this new aircraft, travelers can look forward to an even better flying experience in the near future.
