Fiji Airways Welcomes New ATR72-600 Plane!

Fiji Airways has recently welcomed its newest aircraft, an ATR72-600 series plane, marking a significant addition to its fleet. This new turboprop was photographed in Toulouse, France, where the handover was facilitated by Airplane Xperts, a French-based company.

On their LinkedIn page, Airplane Xperts expressed gratitude to Fiji Airways for successfully delivering the ATR 72-600, identified as MSN 1707, on Christmas Eve in Toulouse. They noted that the aircraft is currently en route to its new home and is expected to arrive next week. The team at ATR was also acknowledged for their support in the aircraft’s production and for ensuring its timely delivery before the holiday.

In addition to this delivery, Fiji Airways signed a lease agreement in August 2024 for three more ATR72-600 aircraft from Nordic Aviation Capital. Currently, the airline operates two ATR72-600s through its domestic subsidiary, Fiji Link. These turboprops service domestic routes as well as flights to destinations including Port Vila in Vanuatu, Funafuti in Tuvalu, and Tongatapu and Vava’u in Tonga.

This acquisition reflects Fiji Airways’ commitment to enhancing its fleet and operations, which will ultimately benefit travel and connectivity in the region. As the company expands its capabilities, it also positions itself to better serve both domestic and international travelers.

Overall, the addition of this new aircraft is a positive development for Fiji Airways and is likely to contribute to the growth of air travel in the region, fostering more accessible connections for communities and tourism.
