Fiji Airways has welcomed its latest addition, an ATR72-600 series aircraft, recently photographed in Toulouse, France. The handover was facilitated by Airplane Xperts, a French company, as they expressed gratitude on their LinkedIn page for the successful delivery, which occurred on Christmas Eve.

The newly acquired aircraft, identified as MSN 1707, is currently en route to its home base and is expected to arrive in Fiji next week. Airplane Xperts extended their thanks to the ATR team for their support during the production process and for ensuring the aircraft was delivered in time for the holiday season.

In August 2024, Fiji Airways signed a lease agreement for three additional ATR72-600 aircraft from Nordic Aviation Capital to enhance its fleet. Currently, the airline operates two ATR72-600s through its domestic subsidiary, Fiji Link. These turboprop planes service not only domestic routes but also international flights to Port Vila in Vanuatu, Funafuti in Tuvalu, and Tongatapu and Vava’u in Tonga.

This expansion of Fiji Airways’ fleet represents a significant step forward for the airline, signaling growth and the potential for enhanced connectivity in the region. The new aircraft will not only improve passenger service but also bolster the tourism sector, an essential part of Fiji’s economy.

In summary, the recent acquisition of the ATR72-600 showcases Fiji Airways’ commitment to expanding its operations and enhancing travel options, promising a bright future for both the airline and Fijian tourism.
