Fiji Airways has announced new safety regulations regarding the transportation and use of portable power banks on all Fiji Airways and Fiji Link flights, effective from January 19, 2026. Under this new policy, the usage of portable power banks during flights will be prohibited, and they will not be allowed in checked luggage.
Passengers will only be permitted to carry power banks in their cabin baggage and must store them in the seat pocket rather than in overhead compartments. This policy change reflects Fiji Airways’ ongoing commitment to passenger safety, as emphasized in their official statement.
The airline explained that this decision comes after a comprehensive review of their operational protocols concerning portable electronic devices, aligning with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations. Fiji Airways stated, “By restricting the use of portable power banks onboard, we are proactively managing potential risks and aligning our operations with global best practices in aviation safety.”
To keep passengers informed, Fiji Airways encourages them to visit their website for a complete list of restricted items. The airline has also committed to communicating these changes through various channels, including prior notifications before travel, at check-in, and within airport terminals starting January 19, 2026.
This safety update is part of Fiji Airways’ broader operational framework, aimed at reinforcing their reputation as a world-class airline dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing of all passengers and crew members. With these proactive measures, Fiji Airways continues to prioritize safety while enhancing the travel experience for its customers.
