Fiji Airways is optimistic about its new route from Dallas, Texas, forecasting an average of 1,000 passengers weekly. This new connection, which officially commenced recently, links Nadi International Airport with Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), recognized as the second most connected airport in the world.
During the launch of the inaugural flight, Fiji Airways’ CEO and Managing Director Andre Viljoen highlighted the significance of this new route in enhancing connectivity across North America. He emphasized how it simplifies travel for U.S. travelers to access Fiji and the broader South Pacific region. “In line with our mission, ‘We Fly for Fiji,’ this new service will bring up to 1000 passengers to Fiji each week, bolstering our nation’s tourism and fostering new business opportunities between our countries,” Mr. Viljoen explained.
Dallas Fort Worth serves as a crucial hub for the airline, providing passengers with access to over 250 cities across the globe, thereby unlocking new travel and business prospects. DFW’s CEO, Sean Donohue, praised Fiji Airways for expanding access to the Pacific, saying, “DFW is excited to add the beautiful islands of Fiji to our growing portfolio of international destinations, bringing North Texas nonstop access to a tropical paradise.”
The inaugural flight from Nadi arrived at DFW at 9:25 AM, while the first return flight is scheduled to depart Dallas at 3:55 PM on December 10, arriving in Nadi the following morning. In conjunction with the route launch, the airline introduced a new sustainability initiative by offering upgraded amenity kits for Business Class passengers on long-haul flights, developed in collaboration with Samsonite and Formia.
This new venture not only enhances travel options for passengers but also plays a significant role in supporting Fiji’s economy and tourism sector, paving the way for a promising future.
In summary, Fiji Airways’ expansion into the Dallas market signifies a robust enhancement of its international network, promising increased tourism and business collaborations, alongside a commitment to sustainability. This initiative exhibits a hopeful outlook for both the airline and the Fijian economy amidst the ongoing recovery in global travel.
