Fiji Airways has revealed plans to launch its inaugural direct flight from Nadi to Dallas, Texas, starting on December 10. The airline announced that this new non-stop service will span 13 hours and operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, utilizing the advanced Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft.
The aircraft will be equipped with 301 economy class seats and 33 business class lie-flat aisle access seats. Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways’ Chief Executive and Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm about this milestone, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to enhancing Fiji’s connectivity with the United States and beyond.
Additionally, Viljoen noted that the new Dallas route aligns with other initiatives, including plans to join American Airlines’ AAdvantage® loyalty program next year and to become the 15th full member of the Oneworld alliance in 2025. He stated that the new service is anticipated to bring over 1,000 passengers into Fiji weekly, significantly benefiting the nation’s tourism sector. The overnight flight will also improve connections for travelers from the South Pacific to North America and other locations.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, highlighted the introduction of the direct route to Dallas as a promising development for Fiji. He expressed optimism about the potential for increased tourism and trade opportunities between the two nations, noting the significance of Dallas as a growing source market for Fiji’s tourism, given that DFW International Airport is one of the busiest airports globally.
With this addition, Dallas will become Fiji Airways’ 24th international direct destination and the fifth in North America, joining Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver. The airline also pointed out that the flights to and from Dallas will be contingent upon the approval of US Government regulations.
