Fiji Airways has unveiled plans to launch a new direct flight route between Nadi, Fiji, and Cairns, Australia, starting on April 10, 2025. The service will operate three times a week, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This new connection will not only enhance travel options for those flying from Fiji to Northern Australia, a region known for its rich tourism and economic opportunities, but it will also provide Cairns passengers with seamless connections to Dallas/Fort Worth through Nadi. This means travelers can reach North America and other destinations more conveniently.
Tickets for the Nadi-Cairns flights are available for purchase starting today, with introductory round-trip fares beginning at FJD$ 799 for the Lite fare and $899 for the Value fare. André Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized that this new route is a significant step in expanding their network and improving customer connectivity.
Cairns Airport’s CEO, Richard Barker, hailed the announcement as a transformative moment for the region. He pointed out that this service opens up the South Pacific as an attractive vacation destination for locals while optimizing Fiji Airways’ expanding network, which offers quick, one-stop connections to North America. Destinations like Los Angeles and San Francisco will now be accessible in approximately 16 hours, reducing travel time by nearly three hours compared to flights that require a domestic stop in Australia.
This development is a promising advancement for both Fiji Airways and Cairns, offering greater opportunities for tourism and making it easier for families and friends to connect across regions. The integration of Nadi into the travel routes continues to show Fiji’s increasing importance in global travel networks.
Overall, the new flight service is a positive move towards fostering stronger ties between Australia and Fiji and enhancing travel options for passengers seeking new experiences and capabilities in their travel planning.
