Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced that the $160 million investment in two new flight simulators stands as evidence of Fiji Airways’ confidence in the future of aviation. During the commissioning of the state-of-the-art simulators, Rabuka emphasized that this initiative signifies a commitment to enhancing Fiji’s status as a key hub for aviation training in the Asia Pacific.
He noted that the new facility is poised to attract trainees and pilots not only from within Fiji but also from across the region and globally, establishing the country as a center of excellence in aviation training. Rabuka pointed out that Fiji Airways currently accounts for approximately 65-70 percent of all visitors to Fiji, with their international marketing efforts surpassing those of any other entity promoting travel and tourism to the country.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the improved training capabilities at the Aviation Academy will uphold the highest standards of safety and service, essential for enhancing the travel experience for visitors. He added that these developments align with the Government’s broader vision for sustainable growth.
Rabuka praised Fiji Airways not just as a leader in aviation but also as a pioneer in environmental stewardship. He remarked that the facility serves as a catalyst for economic activity, benefiting local businesses and contributing to the overall prosperity of the nation.
