Fiji Airways has been announced as the Official Airline Partner of the LA Clippers for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season, enhancing the airline’s ties with Los Angeles. This partnership marks a significant milestone as it is the airline’s first sponsorship with an NBA team.
The airline is known for providing the only non-stop daily flights from Fiji to Los Angeles, offering both convenience and its award-winning services for travelers. Through this partnership, Fiji Airways aims to boost its visibility in the Los Angeles area, featuring its branding prominently at Clippers games, alongside exclusive promotions and contests, and participation in youth camps and clinics coordinated by the Clippers.
Fiji Airways’ Chief Executive and Managing Director, Andre Viljoen, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the opportunity to showcase their direct service from Los Angeles to Fiji. He noted that this initiative aligns with the airline’s broader strategies to spur growth in North America, which includes a new service to Dallas and the integration of the American Airlines AAdvantage loyalty program.
As part of the three-year sponsorship deal, Fiji Airways will display its branding throughout the Clippers’ new arena, Intuit Dome, during all home games, providing exposure to the airline and the attractions of Fiji’s islands. Viljoen emphasized that the partnership offers a unique chance to promote tourism in Fiji to an audience of over 17,500 enthusiastic fans per game.
Fans of the Clippers can look forward to special travel offers, on-court contests, and chances to win prizes including free flights to Fiji and exclusive travel packages. Viljoen highlighted that the partnership is about more than sports; it reflects shared values of teamwork and excellence.
Additionally, Fiji Airways plans to support the Clippers’ community initiatives, participating in youth programs that aim to nurture future sports talent. Scott Sonnenberg, the Chief Commercial Officer of the LA Clippers and Intuit Dome, expressed excitement about the partnership, anticipating new experiences for the Clippers’ fan base.
Fiji Airways operates daily non-stop flights between Nad, Fiji, and Los Angeles using its modern Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft, which features comfortable seating options in both economy and business class.
