Fiji Airways has announced an exciting new partnership, securing a three-year agreement with the AFL club Gold Coast SUNS. This collaboration coincides with the launch of the airline’s direct service from Gold Coast to Nadi, set to commence on June 11, 2026.
This partnership enhances Fiji’s visibility in Australia, with the Fiji brand prominently featured at SUNS home games held at People First Stadium. The stadium can accommodate crowds of up to 20,000 fans each match, providing a significant platform for promoting Fiji as a prime holiday destination.
Paul Scurrah, the Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “Australia remains Fiji’s largest tourism market, and the Gold Coast is a natural extension of our network. This partnership not only supports the launch of our new direct service but also promotes Fiji as a premier holiday destination to thousands of Australian travellers each week.”
The partnership will kick off on March 2, just before the SUNS begin their season against the Geelong Cats on March 6, 2026. Fans can look forward to Fijian-themed halftime activations, cultural performances, and various giveaways throughout the season, enriching the matchday experience.
Mark Evans, the chief executive of the SUNS, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, noting that it not only enhances the experience for fans but also strengthens the connection between the Gold Coast and the Pacific region. To celebrate this new partnership, Fiji Airways is offering limited return fares from Nadi to the Gold Coast, starting at $799 FJD.
This agreement represents a significant step in the tourism and sports sectors, fostering cultural exchange and providing a unique connection between the two regions while encouraging travel from Australia to the picturesque islands of Fiji.
