Fiji Airways Sets Sights on Exciting New Destinations

Fiji Airways is exploring the possibility of expanding its routes, according to CEO Andre Viljoen, who spoke at the Fiji Tourism Convention 2024 in Nadi this week.

Viljoen pointed out that potential new destinations include cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai, Salt Lake City, Chicago, New York, Bogota, Santiago, Perth, Cairns, Gold Coast, Hobart, Queenstown, and Dunedin. He emphasized that these routes are under continuous evaluation.

In addition to discussing new routes, Viljoen highlighted the airline’s progress in increasing the number of women in its workforce. He mentioned that the aviation industry set a goal at IATA’s Annual General Meeting to have at least 25 percent of airline employees be women by 2025. Fiji Airways has surpassed that goal with 46 percent of its employees being women, although he acknowledged that more work is needed at senior levels and within certain roles like pilots. He affirmed that addressing this issue is a key strategy for the airline.
