Fiji Airways has announced an exciting new direct flight service between Nadi, Fiji, and Cairns, Australia, set to commence on April 10, 2025. This new route will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, offering travelers greater flexibility in their travel plans.

In their press release, Fiji Airways highlighted how passengers flying from Cairns will also benefit from convenient connections to Dallas/Fort Worth through Nadi. This enhancement provides a quicker travel option to North America and other destinations.

The decision to launch the Nadi-Cairns route is a strategic move aimed at connecting Fiji Airways customers with Northern Australia, known for its vibrant tourism and economic opportunities. Tickets for the new service are already available, with special introductory prices starting at just FJD$ 799 for the Lite fare and FJD$ 899 for the Value fare, both round-trip from Nadi to Cairns.

André Viljoen, the Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized that this new service is a significant step in their network expansion, bringing enhanced travel options and improved connectivity for their customers. Cairns Airport’s CEO, Richard Barker, described the announcement as a game changer, stating that it not only makes the South Pacific more accessible for locals seeking holidays or family visits, but also enables travelers to access North America with faster one-stop connections via Nadi. Major destinations like Los Angeles and San Francisco are now only a 16-hour journey away, effectively reducing travel time by nearly three hours through an Australian domestic port.

This initiative reflects Fiji Airways’ commitment to expanding their global network and enhancing travel experiences, ultimately benefiting both local economies and international travelers.

The introduction of this route is a positive development for tourism in Fiji and Australia, creating more options for travelers and fostering closer ties between the two regions. With the promise of quicker connections and attractive fares, this service is anticipated to bolster tourism and economic engagement in both nations.
