Fiji Airways is set to launch a new direct flight route to Cairns, Australia, which is expected to greatly benefit the adventure travel industry. James Pridgeon, the airline’s Senior Operations Manager for Tourism and Customer Services, expressed his enthusiasm for this new endeavor during the opening of the AdventureNEXT FIJI event at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Sigatoka. This marks the airline’s 28th destination.
Pridgeon highlighted the airline’s expansion, noting it currently operates 27 global destinations with a fleet of 23 aircraft. He shared that Fiji Airways has formed partnerships with 52 international airlines, providing access to 82 countries and 279 destinations worldwide.
Furthermore, he pointed out a significant increase in travel demand, revealing a 41 percent boost in seat capacity and a 46 percent rise in passenger numbers projected for 2024 compared to 2019. To support this growth, Fiji Airways’ new A350 fleet allows for improved reach to potential customers both locally and internationally.
