Fiji Airways and its domestic arm Fiji Link have rescheduled a number of international services due to adverse weather linked to the tropical system affecting the region, the airline said on Wednesday. The changes, affecting flights slated for April 8, 2026, follow several cancellations and operational adjustments as crews and schedulers respond to ongoing, unpredictable conditions; further schedule changes remain possible as forecasts evolve.
In a statement, the carrier urged guests to ensure their contact details are current in the “Manage My Booking” portal so they can receive timely notifications of any alterations. To provide relief for those disrupted, Fiji Airways said passengers may defer travel without incurring change fees or fare differences for rebookings up to April 30, 2026. For travel beginning May 1, change fees will be waived but fare differences may apply. All rebooked travel must be completed by May 31, 2026.
The airline warned that operational disruptions may also affect onboard services, including potential changes to standard meal offerings. This comes as aircraft rotations, catering deliveries and crew schedules are stretched by the adjustments, the airline said. Passengers seeking assistance are encouraged to contact the Fiji Airways reservations team via the carrier’s website; however, the airline cautioned that longer wait times should be expected because of a surge in enquiries.
Fiji Airways said it is closely monitoring weather developments and will continue to modify flight plans as required, reiterating that the safety of passengers and crew is its highest priority. Many international services originate from and transit through Nadi International Airport, which has seen increased pressure on ground operations during periods of heavy rain and storm activity tied to regional tropical systems.
The latest disruption forms part of a pattern of weather-related interruptions this season. Fiji Airways cancelled two Nadi–Dallas flights in January because of severe winter weather in the United States, and an Auckland service was cancelled in December after repeated delays left passengers stranded at Nadi. Meteorological warnings earlier this year signalled an elevated risk of heavy rain, thunderstorms and flooding across parts of the country, prompting transport and council contingency measures.
Passengers affected by the April 8 schedule changes are advised to rely on official airline channels for confirmed updates, maintain up-to-date contact information in Manage My Booking, and review rebooking options under the temporary fee waivers. The carrier’s statement said operations will be adjusted as the situation develops and further advisories will be issued as necessary.
