Fiji Airways has announced plans to implement additional flights through Savusavu to ensure connectivity to Vanua Levu while Labasa Airport undergoes a temporary closure. The airport will be closed from February 16 to March 27, 2026, as Fiji Airports undertakes essential runway strengthening projects, resulting in a suspension of all flights to and from Labasa during this time.

To mitigate the impact on travelers, Fiji Airways will boost its services to Savusavu with four daily flights between Nadi and Savusavu, along with three weekly flights between Suva and Savusavu throughout the closure. This initiative aims to accommodate both residents and visitors who depend on air travel for business, family, and essential travel needs.

Passengers who have existing bookings to Labasa during the closure are advised to reach out to Fiji Airways or their travel agents to arrange alternative travel plans through Savusavu. Given the expected rise in demand during the airport shutdown, travelers are encouraged to make their bookings early.

Fiji Airways will continue to provide updates as runway works progress and has expressed gratitude to its customers for their understanding and cooperation during this necessary period. This commitment to maintaining air connectivity shows a proactive approach to supporting the community during infrastructure improvements.
