The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s team concluded its campaign in the SVNS Perth tournament with a strong fifth-place finish, triumphing over France with a score of 17-5 in an electrifying match. Terio Tamani’s individual brilliance was pivotal as Fiji led 7-0 at halftime, allowing them to maintain control throughout the game.

In the second half, debutant Sakiusa Siqila joined Joji Nasova on the scoresheet, both securing vital tries to ensure the victory for head coach Osea Kolinisau’s squad. The French side managed a consolation try from Enahemo Arta, but it wasn’t enough to shift the momentum.

This match comes on the heels of the Fiji men’s team performing admirably in previous tournaments, including a commendable third-place finish at the HSBC Sevens in Cape Town. There, they showcased impressive skills by defeating Spain decisively with a 47-10 scoreline, while suffering a narrow semi-final loss to France. Despite these ups and downs, Fiji remains at the top of the series standings, reflecting their consistent performances.

Looking to the future, Fiji is set to compete in the upcoming Perth Sevens tournament from January 24-26. This upcoming event presents an opportunity for the team to build on their current momentum and continue developing their resilience and skill on the field.

Overall, the team’s recent performances not only illustrate their talent but also inspire hope for greater achievements in the international rugby arena. As they prepare for future competitions, fans and players alike are optimistic about the potential for success, reinforcing Fiji’s status as a formidable force in rugby sevens.
