Fiji Airways has expanded its global reach by launching its longest flight, a direct service connecting Dallas Fort Worth, Texas, with Nadi, Fiji. Initially, the service will operate three times a week, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is renowned for being the second most connected airport globally, facilitating easier access for passengers traveling to various destinations around the world. Fiji Airways’ CEO, Andre Viljoen, emphasized that the new route enhances connectivity for U.S. travelers, simplifying access to Fiji and the South Pacific while providing seamless connections to Australia and New Zealand. This initiative is expected to bring approximately 1,000 passengers to Fiji each week, benefiting the tourism sector and fostering business opportunities between the two nations.
DFW CEO Sean Donohue expressed enthusiasm about introducing Fiji to their international network, enabling North Texas travelers to reach this tropical paradise directly, while connecting to over 250 destinations globally.
The inaugural flight from Nadi landed at DFW on December 10, 2024, to a warm welcome, including a water cannon salute. The first flight from DFW to Fiji is scheduled to depart the same evening, carrying passengers who will arrive in Nadi on December 12, 2024.
This new route will utilize the advanced Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft, offering enhanced comfort with 334 seating options, including 33 lie-flat business class seats. The DFW-NAN route marks Fiji Airways’ fifth direct service to North America, adding to existing routes from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver.
Viljoen noted that DFW serves as a crucial hub, opening up extensive travel and business prospects. With this new route, Fiji Airways is set to enhance its international service footprint, coinciding with the upcoming launch of its 27th direct route to Cairns, Australia, in April 2025.
Moreover, as part of a strategic expansion plan, Fiji Airways will adopt the AAdvantage® loyalty program by American Airlines next year and become a full member of the oneworld® alliance in March 2025, offering customers enhanced travel benefits.
To celebrate the launch, Fiji Airways is offering return flights from Nadi to Dallas Fort Worth starting at just $1,999 per person, available until December 17, 2024.
This development not only showcases the airline’s commitment to connecting Fiji with major global hubs but also highlights the potential for tourism and business growth between the U.S. and Fiji. The launch of this direct flight service indicates a promising future for travelers eager to explore the natural beauty and culture of Fiji.
