Fiji Airways has expanded its international service spectrum with the introduction of its longest flight, featuring the inaugural direct route between Dallas Fort Worth, Texas, and Nadi, Fiji. The service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is known as one of the world’s most connected airports, which facilitates greater access for Fiji Airways passengers to numerous global destinations.
Fiji Airways’ CEO and Managing Director, Andre Viljoen, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating it enhances the airline’s connectivity across North America and simplifies travel for U.S. tourists looking to visit Fiji and the South Pacific. The launch is expected to bring up to 1,000 new passengers to Fiji weekly, bolstering the local tourism industry and fostering business relationships between the two nations.
The Chief Executive of DFW, Sean Donohue, also expressed support for the new service, highlighting that it opens up the tropical paradise of Fiji to North Texas travelers and links the island to DFW’s expansive network of over 250 international destinations.
The inaugural flight, lasting approximately 13 hours, arrived in Dallas Fort Worth on December 10, 2024, where it was met with a ceremonial water cannon salute. The return flight is scheduled to leave Dallas at 21:55 CST on the same day, arriving in Nadi at 05:20 local time December 12, 2024.
Fiji Airways will utilize the modern Airbus A350-900 XWB for this route, which offers 334 seats, including 33 lie-flat business class seats to ensure maximum comfort for travelers.
This new Dallas to Nadi route enhances Fiji Airways’ presence in North America, complementing existing flights from cities such as Los Angeles and Vancouver, making it the airline’s fifth direct route to the region.
Viljoen remarked that DFW serves as a vital hub, unlocking exciting travel and business opportunities for passengers with its extensive global connections. Furthermore, this route represents the airline’s 26th international direct service, coinciding with a planned expansion that will also include a direct service to Cairns, Australia, starting April 10, 2025.
Part of Fiji Airways’ strategic objectives includes joining American Airlines’ AAdvantage® loyalty program next year and full integration into the oneworld® alliance by March 31, 2025, which will enhance travel benefits for customers.
To celebrate the launch, Fiji Airways is offering promotional return flights from Nadi to Dallas Fort Worth starting at just $1,999 per person, available until December 17, 2024.
