Fiji Airways has officially declared its plans to launch a new direct flight route connecting Nadi, Fiji, to Cairns, Australia, beginning on April 10, 2025. This new service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, making it more convenient for travelers.
The airline highlighted that passengers flying from Cairns will benefit from seamless connections to Dallas/Fort Worth, facilitating quicker travel options to North America and beyond. This strategic addition aims to enhance Fiji Airways’ network, connecting guests with Northern Australia, which is known for its vibrant tourism and economic potential.
To celebrate this new route, Fiji Airways is offering introductory fares starting from just FJD$ 799 for the Lite option and FJD$ 899 for the Value option for a round trip from Nadi to Cairns.
André Viljoen, the Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, stated that this new service marks a significant expansion in their network, offering more travel choices and improved connectivity for their customers. Richard Barker, CEO of Cairns Airport, expressed that the introduction of this route is transformative for the region, as it not only opens up the South Pacific as an attractive holiday destination for locals but also enhances access to North America through a streamlined route.
With destinations like Los Angeles and San Francisco now accessible in approximately 16 hours—nearly three hours faster than previously available options via an Australian domestic port—this initiative is set to foster increased travel and tourism between these regions.
Overall, this move by Fiji Airways is a promising development that not only enhances travel options but also boosts the tourism economy in both Fiji and Northern Australia. As international travel continues to recover, such expansions can encourage more visitors and strengthen connections between continents.
