Fiji Airways is expanding its international reach with the introduction of a direct flight service between Dallas Fort Worth, Texas, and Nadi, Fiji. This new route is the airline’s longest yet, initially operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is notable for being the second most connected airport globally, which provides passengers with a greater range of destinations to access from Fiji. Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen expressed that the new route enhances connectivity for North American travelers, facilitating easier access to Fiji and the broader South Pacific region, while also providing increased travel opportunities to Australia and New Zealand. He anticipates that this service will bring approximately 1,000 passengers to Fiji weekly, thereby boosting the nation’s tourism sector and fostering opportunities for business partnerships.
The inaugural flight, which lasted 13 hours, successfully landed at DFW International Airport on December 10, 2024, where it was met with a festive water cannon salute. The return flight to Nadi is set to depart shortly after, making it a highly anticipated service for travelers.
For this route, Fiji Airways is utilizing the modern Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft, accommodating 334 passengers, including 33 optimized business class seats designed for comfort. The Dallas Fort Worth-Nadi service is another step in the airline’s strategic development in North America, complementing existing routes from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver.
Viljoen noted that DFW is a crucial hub, allowing connections to over 250 cities worldwide, which will benefit both travel and business prospects. Additionally, this newly launched route marks Fiji Airways’ 26th direct international service, which will connect smoothly with the upcoming flight to Cairns, Australia, launching in April 2025.
Fiji Airways is also set to enhance customer benefits with the integration of the American Airlines AAdvantage® loyalty program in the coming year and plans to join the oneworld® alliance by March 31, 2025.
As part of the launch celebration, the airline is promoting return fares to Dallas Fort Worth starting from $1,999 per person, available until December 17, 2024.
This new service opens great potential not only for increasing tourism in Fiji but for deepening connections between Fiji and North America, emphasizing a bright future for travel and economic exchanges between the regions.
