Fiji Airways has announced that it will launch its inaugural direct flight from Nadi, Fiji, to Dallas, Texas, in the United States, starting on December 10. This new non-stop service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, utilizing the airline’s modern Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft.
The aircraft is equipped with 301 economy class seats and 33 lie-flat business class seats. Fiji Airways’ Chief Executive and Managing Director, Andre Viljoen, highlighted this development as an exciting milestone for the airline, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing Fiji’s connectivity with the United States and beyond. He noted that the Dallas route will support various initiatives, including joining the American Airlines’ AAdvantage® loyalty program in the coming year and becoming the 15th full member of the Oneworld alliance by 2025.
Viljoen stated that the new service is expected to bring over 1,000 passengers weekly into Fiji, thus supporting the nation’s tourism sector. The overnight flights will also provide customers with better connections to North America from the South Pacific and beyond.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, described the introduction of the Dallas route as an exciting opportunity for Fiji, paving the way for greater tourism and trade between the two countries. He acknowledged Dallas as a promising new source market for Fijian tourism, noting that DFW International Airport ranks as the third-busiest airport globally, and Texas is home to some of the most rapidly developing counties in the United States.
Dallas will be Fiji Airways’ 24th international direct destination and will join Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver as the fifth North American city serviced by the airline. The company has also indicated that these flights are contingent upon regulatory approvals from the US government.
