Fiji Airways has revealed plans to launch a new direct flight service connecting Nadi, Fiji, to Cairns, Australia, starting on April 10, 2025. As part of this new route, flights will operate three times a week, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
In addition to the direct flights, the airline highlighted that passengers traveling from Cairns will benefit from convenient connections to Dallas/Fort Worth through Nadi, significantly improving travel options to North America and extending global reach.
The decision to introduce this route reflects Fiji Airways’ strategy to bolster connections to Northern Australia, a region known for its vibrant tourism industry and economic attractions. Booking for the Nadi-Cairns flights is now open, with introductory fares starting at just FJD$ 799 for the Lite option and FJD$ 899 for the Value option for a round trip.
André Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized that this new service marks an important milestone in the airline’s network expansion, providing customers with enhanced travel options. Cairns Airport CEO Richard Barker described the initiative as transformative for the region, marking a significant opportunity for locals to explore holiday destinations in the South Pacific and connect more easily to international locations, especially in North America.
With travel times to major U.S. cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco reduced by nearly three hours, this new route promises to enhance connectivity and convenience for travelers.
This new service not only enriches travel opportunities but also underscores the ongoing collaboration between Fiji and Australia, fostering stronger ties in tourism and economic exchanges. The introduction of this route is a positive development as it enhances accessibility and fosters cultural exchange between the two regions, bringing people closer together.
In summary, Fiji Airways’ new direct service to Cairns signifies a promising expansion in travel options that could benefit both regions economically and socially.
