Fiji Airways has expanded its global reach by launching its longest flight, marking the first-ever direct service between Dallas Fort Worth, Texas, and Nadi, Fiji. This new route will initially operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is known for being one of the most connected airports in the world, offering Fiji Airways passengers improved access to numerous global destinations. Fiji Airways’ CEO, Andre Viljoen, emphasized that this service enhances connectivity for U.S. travelers, making it simpler to visit Fiji and the South Pacific, with smooth connections to Australia and New Zealand. He noted that the new route is anticipated to bring as many as 1,000 passengers to Fiji weekly, significantly contributing to the nation’s tourism sector and fostering business relationships between the U.S. and Fiji.

Sean Donohue, the Chief Executive of DFW, reflected on the excitement surrounding this new addition, stating that it provides North Texas with nonstop access to the scenic islands of Fiji, linking Nadi to over 250 destinations worldwide.

The inaugural flight from Nadi touched down at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, where it was met with a celebratory water cannon salute. The return flight is set to depart Dallas for Fiji shortly after, promising passengers a direct route to the islands.

Fiji Airways is utilizing the advanced Airbus A350-900 XWB for this route, which features premium seating for 334 customers, including 33 business class seats that convert to lie-flat beds. This launch adds a significant fifth direct route from North America to Fiji, joining existing services from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver.

Viljoen explained that DFW serves as a critical hub for the airline, providing access to an extensive network and enhancing travel opportunities. This new service also represents Fiji Airways’ 26th international direct route, with plans to introduce a 27th direct service to Cairns, Australia, in April 2025.

In line with its strategic goals, Fiji Airways is also set to integrate American Airlines’ AAdvantage® loyalty program next year and become a full member of the oneworld® alliance by March 31, 2025, offering more travel benefits to its customers. To celebrate the new Dallas Fort Worth route, Fiji Airways is offering promotional return flights starting at $1,999 per person from Nadi, available until December 17, 2024.

Overall, this initiative not only opens new travel avenues for eager adventurers but also promises to bolster economic ties and tourism between the U.S. and Fiji. The expansion of connectivity signifies a hopeful future for travel, bringing more people together and enhancing cultural exchanges.
