Fiji Airways has revealed plans to launch a new direct flight service connecting Nadi, Fiji, with Cairns, Australia, which will commence on April 10, 2025. According to the airline’s announcement, this service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Passengers traveling from Cairns will also have the convenience of seamless connections to Dallas/Fort Worth through Nadi, making it a quicker travel option for those heading to North America and beyond. The introduction of the Nadi-Cairns route is part of Fiji Airways’ strategic initiative to enhance connectivity for their guests, particularly to Northern Australia, a region well-known for its appealing tourism and economic prospects.
The fares for the new flights from Nadi to Cairns are available starting today, with introductory prices set at FJD$ 799 for Lite* and FJD$ 899 for Value* for a round trip.
André Viljoen, the Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, emphasized that this new service is a significant step in expanding their network, offering travelers more choices and better connectivity. Richard Barker, the CEO of Cairns Airport, described the announcement as a transformative moment for the region, stating that it not only opens up the South Pacific as an attractive holiday destination but also enhances access to North America through Fiji Airways’ growing network. With destinations like Los Angeles and San Francisco now only 16 hours away, this new route shortens travel time by nearly three hours compared to previous options via an Australian domestic port.
Overall, the introduction of these direct flights may not only boost tourism in both regions but also foster stronger economic ties, encouraging more travelers to explore the beautiful landscapes of Fiji and Australia.
In summary, the launch of direct flights between Nadi and Cairns is expected to enhance connectivity, open up new travel opportunities, and promote tourism between Fiji and Australia, marking a positive development for both destinations.
