Fiji Airways has unveiled plans for its inaugural direct flight connecting Nadi, Fiji, to Dallas, Texas, set to launch on December 10. The airline’s new non-stop service will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, utilizing the advanced Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft.
The aircraft will accommodate 301 economy class passengers and offer 33 business class lie-flat aisle access seats. Fiji Airways’ Chief Executive and Managing Director, Andre Viljoen, expressed enthusiasm for this significant milestone, highlighting the airline’s commitment to enhancing Fiji’s connectivity with the United States and beyond.
Viljoen noted that the Dallas service aligns with other recent initiatives, including plans to join American Airlines’ AAdvantage® loyalty program next year and becoming the 15th member of the Oneworld alliance in 2025. He mentioned that the new route is expected to bring over 1,000 passengers weekly to Fiji, supporting the tourism sector and facilitating better connections to North America for travelers from the South Pacific.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, emphasized the importance of the direct route for Fiji, stating it opens up new avenues for tourism and trade between the two countries. He pointed out Dallas’s potential as a source market for Fiji’s tourism, given that DFW International Airport is ranked as the third-busiest airport globally, and Texas includes some of the nation’s fastest-growing counties.
Dallas will become Fiji Airways’ 24th international direct destination and its fifth in North America, joining Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver. The airline has noted that the new flights are contingent upon obtaining regulatory approvals from the US government.
