Fiji Airways has announced its ongoing operation of two Airbus A350-900 aircraft, following a recent acquisition by the Riyadh-based lessor, AviLease. This deal, which was revealed this week, ensures that the aircraft will continue to support the airline’s long-haul services without disruptions.

AviLease has successfully completed the purchase of the two A350-900s from GOAL Aircraft Leasing, with the transaction occurring on February 10. The aircraft, currently on a long-term lease to Fiji Airways, will remain integral to the airline’s fleet, allowing for the continuity of its operations.

The Airbus A350-900s, recognized by their manufacturer serial numbers MSN 260 and MSN 251, entered AviLease’s portfolio in December 2025, while existing leasing agreements will remain intact. Fiji Airways took delivery of these modern aircraft in August 2023 and utilizes them on essential trans-Pacific routes, including flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco.

This strategic inclusion of the A350-900s plays a vital role in Fiji Airways’ fleet modernization efforts, offering enhanced fuel efficiency and long-range capabilities that bolster the airline’s operational performance.

Christian Schloemann, managing director of GOAL, remarked that the sale aligns with the organization’s investment strategy, emphasizing the liquidity benefits for investors, which will be redirected into new aircraft opportunities.

AviLease, entirely owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, highlighted that this acquisition is part of its vision to develop a top-tier leasing portfolio, prioritizing modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. The A350-900 is particularly noted for its advanced composite structure and lower fuel consumption when compared to older widebody models.

For passengers of Fiji Airways, this transition in ownership promises a seamless experience, with no anticipated changes to flight schedules, routes, or in-flight service as the airline maintains its long-term lease arrangements. This development underscores a positive outlook for Fiji Airways’ operational resilience and modernization initiatives.
