Fiji Airways is expanding its fleet with the addition of two new ATR aircraft, boosting its ability to serve both domestic and regional destinations across Fiji and the South Pacific. The first of these new ATR 72-600 planes arrived on December 29, 2024, followed by the second on January 5, 2025.
This fleet expansion is a strategic move aimed at improving domestic capacity and enhancing services for regional communities, especially in Northern Fiji. Each of the ATR 72-600 aircraft can accommodate 68 passengers and will be mainly utilized on regional routes that connect various divisions of Fiji, including the Northern and Western regions.
Looking ahead, Fiji Airways plans to introduce more ATR aircraft to further enhance capacity, which will allow for more frequent and reliable services on crucial domestic routes such as Nadi-Suva and Labasa. This expansion reflects Fiji Airways’ commitment to improving connectivity and accessibility across its regional network, aligning with its broader strategy to strengthen its Nadi Hub and enhance travel options for passengers flying both domestically and internationally.
As traveler demand continues to grow, this development not only supports economic growth by connecting communities but also symbolizes a hopeful future for the tourism sector in Fiji, fostering deeper connections both within the islands and with international visitors.
In summary, the addition of new ATR aircraft positions Fiji Airways as a key facilitator of travel in the region, enabling better access and strengthening the overall travel experience.
