Fiji Airways has introduced advanced simulators at the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy, enhancing its training offerings. The new equipment includes a CAE 7000XR full flight simulator for the Airbus A350 and ATR-72 aircraft, along with two CAE 500XR Fixed Training Devices (FTD) for the Airbus A330 and Boeing 737-Max 8.

These simulators are certified by EASA and CAAF, significantly boosting the Academy’s ability to provide top-tier training for pilots and engineers. Fiji Airways’ CEO and Managing Director Andre Viljoen remarked, “The addition of these new full flight simulators for the A350 and ATR aircraft is a significant step forward for the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy.” He emphasized the company’s commitment to high training and safety standards while establishing Fiji as a regional aviation leader.

The Academy, which opened in December 2019, has been pivotal in fostering local talent and minimizing the reliance on overseas training. The overall investment in the Academy, including these latest simulators, amounts to around $160 million. This expansion not only meets Fiji Airways’ internal training requirements but also creates opportunities for training third-party airlines, thereby generating new revenue streams.
