Fiji Airways has introduced advanced simulators at the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy to enhance pilot and engineer training. Among the new additions are the CAE 7000XR full flight simulator for Airbus A350 and ATR-72 aircraft, along with two CAE 500XR Fixed Training Devices (FTD) designed for Airbus A330 and Boeing 737-Max 8.
These state-of-the-art simulators are certified by EASA and CAAF, improving the Academy’s ability to deliver top-quality training. “The addition of these new full flight simulators for the A350 and ATR aircraft is a significant step forward for the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy,” remarked Andre Viljoen, the CEO and Managing Director of Fiji Airways. He emphasized the airline’s commitment to maintaining the highest training and safety standards, while positioning Fiji as a regional aviation leader.
The Academy, which opened in December 2019, has been instrumental in developing local talent and minimizing the necessity for training abroad. The total investment in the Academy, including the latest simulator technology, amounts to approximately $160 million. This expansion not only meets Fiji Airways’ internal training requirements but also provides opportunities for third-party airlines, contributing to new revenue streams.
