Fiji Airways has introduced advanced simulators to the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy. The new equipment includes the CAE 7000XR full flight simulator for Airbus A350 and ATR-72 aircraft, along with two CAE 500XR Fixed Training Devices (FTD) designed for Airbus A330 and Boeing 737-Max 8.
These simulators are certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF), significantly enhancing the Academy’s ability to deliver top-notch training for pilots and engineers.
Fiji Airways CEO Andre Viljoen emphasized that the addition of these simulators marks a major advancement for the Academy, showcasing a commitment to high training and safety standards. He underscored the importance of providing advanced training technology in Fiji, which equips local pilots and engineers for success in their careers.
Since its inauguration in December 2019, the Academy has focused on developing local talent and minimizing the necessity for overseas training. The overall investment in the Academy, including these new simulators, is approximately $160 million. This expansion not only meets Fiji Airways’ internal training demands but also accommodates third-party airlines, creating new revenue opportunities.
