Fiji Airways has introduced advanced simulators to enhance the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy’s training capabilities. Among the new additions are the CAE 7000XR full flight simulator for the Airbus A350 and ATR-72, along with two CAE 500XR Fixed Training Devices for the Airbus A330 and Boeing 737-Max 8. These simulators have received certification from both EASA and CAAF, thereby elevating the Academy’s ability to deliver top-tier training for pilots and engineers.
Fiji Airways’ CEO and managing director, Andre Viljoen, expressed that the introduction of these simulators represents a major advancement for the Academy. He emphasized the company’s commitment to high training and safety standards for their personnel while aiming to position Fiji as a frontrunner in aviation excellence within the region.
By implementing state-of-the-art training technologies in Fiji, the Academy ensures that local pilots and engineers are equipped with essential skills for their careers. Established in December 2019, the Academy has played a significant role in developing local talent and minimizing reliance on overseas training.
The overall investment in the Academy, including the newly acquired simulators, amounts to approximately $160 million. This expansion not only meets Fiji Airways’ internal training requirements but also allows for third-party airline training, creating additional revenue opportunities.
