Fiji Airways has introduced new advanced flight simulators at the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy. The new additions include the CAE 7000XR full flight simulator for the Airbus A350 and ATR-72 aircraft, alongside two CAE 500XR Fixed Training Devices (FTD) for the Airbus A330 and Boeing 737-Max 8.

Certified by EASA and CAAF, these simulators will enhance the Academy’s ability to deliver top-tier training for pilots and engineers. Andre Viljoen, the chief executive officer and managing director of Fiji Airways, noted that the arrival of these new simulators represents a major advancement for the Academy. He emphasized the company’s commitment to upholding high training standards and safety for their personnel, solidifying Fiji’s position as a regional leader in aviation excellence.

Furthermore, by incorporating cutting-edge training technologies within Fiji, the airline ensures that its pilots and engineers are well-equipped for success in their careers. Established in December 2019, the Academy has been instrumental in developing local talent and reducing the dependency on overseas training. The overall investment in the Academy, which includes the new simulators, amounts to approximately $160 million.

This expansion not only meets Fiji Airways’ internal training needs but also provides opportunities for training personnel from third-party airlines, contributing to new revenue streams.
