Fiji Airways has introduced advanced simulators at the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy. This includes the state-of-the-art CAE 7000XR full flight simulator for the Airbus A350 and ATR-72 aircraft, alongside two new CAE 500XR Fixed Training Devices (FTD) for the Airbus A330 and Boeing 737-Max 8.
Certified by EASA and CAAF, these simulators enhance the Academy’s ability to deliver top-notch training for pilots and engineers. Andre Viljoen, the CEO and managing director of Fiji Airways, remarked that the introduction of these simulators marks a significant advancement for the Academy and underscores their commitment to high training and safety standards, while positioning Fiji as a regional aviation leader.
Viljoen emphasized that bringing such advanced training technology to Fiji ensures pilots and engineers have the necessary tools for career success. Established in December 2019, the Academy has played a crucial role in developing local talent and minimizing the need for overseas training.
Investments in the Academy, including these new devices, total around $160 million. This expansion not only meets Fiji Airways’ internal training requirements but also provides opportunities for training third-party airlines, thus generating new revenue streams.
