Fiji Airways has announced a new direct flight route to Cairns, beginning April 10, 2025. This new service will significantly reduce travel times from the United States, cutting almost three hours off the journey from Los Angeles, making the total flight time approximately 16 hours. Additionally, travelers from San Francisco and Dallas will also experience shorter travel durations.
Federal Minister for Trade and Tourism, Don Farrell, expressed the Albanese Labor Government’s commitment to supporting the tourism industry, highlighting the importance of the $15 million funding provided to support Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ). Farrell emphasized that increasing international flights to Cairns will enhance the region’s appeal, encouraging families from around the globe to visit this popular holiday destination.
Fiji Airways will operate flights to Cairns Airport three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, utilizing a Boeing 737-8 that accommodates eight business class and 170 economy class seats.
This new route not only bolsters tourism in Cairns but also fosters connectivity between Australia and the United States, creating new opportunities for cultural exchange and economic benefit for both regions.
