Fiji Airways reported a cargo revenue of $99 million for 2023, highlighting that its largest agricultural export by air freight was turmeric, with weekly shipments to North America reaching 100 tonnes. This information was presented in the company’s annual report submitted to Parliament on Friday.

However, the airline experienced a 24 percent decline in cargo revenue, attributed to lower yields amid increased competition as airlines resumed international flights following the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the annual report, Fiji Airways transported over 29,000 tonnes of cargo to and from Fiji.

Fiji Airways noted that its cargo operations play a crucial role in supporting the national economy by providing freight services to and from Fiji. The company manages shipments from various regions, including Asia, Australia, New Zealand, North America, and the Pacific Islands. By facilitating trade, Fiji Airways Cargo aids local businesses, fosters economic growth, and significantly contributes to the overall economy of Fiji.
