Fiji Airways has officially expanded its fleet with the addition of two new ATR 72-600 aircraft, a significant enhancement aimed at improving connectivity across Fiji and the broader South Pacific region. The first aircraft arrived on December 29, 2024, while the second joined on January 5, 2025.
This strategic move is part of Fiji Airways’ commitment to enhancing domestic capacity and serving regional communities more effectively, especially in the Northern areas of Fiji. The newly acquired ATRs, each capable of seating 68 passengers, will primarily operate on regional routes, focusing on the Northern and Western divisions of the country.
In the future, Fiji Airways plans to incorporate even more ATR aircraft into its fleet, which will facilitate increased capacity and more frequent services on essential domestic routes, like Nadi to Suva and Labasa. This fleet expansion is poised to significantly bolster connectivity and accessibility within Fiji’s regional network, aligning with Fiji Airways’ broader strategy to enhance its Nadi Hub. The focus is on providing better travel options for passengers, particularly those looking to connect between domestic and international flights.
Overall, this development brings a hopeful perspective for the region as it aims to improve travel for residents and visitors alike, thus fostering economic growth and enhancing the overall travel experience across the islands.
