Fiji Airports Unveils Ambitious $8.6M Terminal Overhaul

Fiji Airports has entered into an $8.6 million contract with Pacific Building Solutions Group to develop the Labasa Terminal.

The Pacific Building Solutions Group was chosen following a comprehensive tender process.

This initiative comes on the heels of a $10 million investment made earlier this year aimed at upgrading pavements at five regional airports, including Labasa.

The project at the Labasa Terminal involves building a temporary terminal, demolishing the current facility, and constructing a new permanent terminal that will feature separate arrivals and departure zones.

Construction of the temporary terminal is set to begin in the first week of October and is expected to be completed by January 2025. The main terminal construction will commence in January 2025 and is anticipated to finish by June 2026.

Fiji Airports is dedicated to minimizing disruptions and ensuring that stakeholders remain informed throughout the process.

“We have formally notified Fiji Link, Northern Air, Police, taxi operators, and the shop operator at Labasa Airport about the project and its timelines,” stated Mesake Nawari, the company’s Chief Executive.

The developments aim to improve the travel experience for domestic passengers and accommodate the increasing number of travelers.
