Fiji Airports is embarking on an ambitious plan for the next decade, announcing a total of 18 major projects. In a recent statement, the organization revealed it has partnered with COX Architecture Pty Ltd, a renowned Australian architectural firm, to create a comprehensive landside master plan for both Nadi and Nausori Airports.

COX Architecture was selected through a competitive tendering process, highlighting their extensive experience in significant global projects, including developments at Changi Airport in Singapore, New Delhi International Airport, and Sydney International Airport. Fiji Airports’ CEO Mesake Nawari expressed excitement about the collaboration, indicating that the consultant has a 32-week timeline to finalize the project details.

The new landside master plan will align with the airside masterplan for Nadi Airport, which is set for implementation from 2024 to 2048. Planned enhancements at Nadi Airport will include the upgrading of current facilities, construction of new gates, a modern domestic terminal, and improved parking options. The projects aim to replace old passenger boarding tunnels with advanced aerobridges and broaden other aspects of the terminal, such as the departure lounge and apron space.

These developments point towards a bright future for Fiji Airports, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing both aeronautical and non-aeronautical services. The ongoing upgrades aim to ensure that Fiji’s airports remain competitive and capable of meeting growing travel demands while providing an improved experience for passengers.

In summary, Fiji Airports is on the verge of a transformative phase, underscoring their vision for growth and modernization over the next ten years, which will ultimately benefit travelers and the broader Fijian economy. The collaboration with COX Architecture reflects a proactive approach to embracing innovation in airport management.
