Fiji Airports is gearing up for an ambitious decade ahead, with plans to carry out 18 development projects set to transform Nadi and Nausori Airports. Announced in a recent statement, the company has partnered with COX Architecture Pty Ltd to spearhead the development of a comprehensive landside master plan for both airports.
This Australian architectural firm was selected after a rigorous tender process and has a strong portfolio, having worked on major infrastructure projects at some of the world’s busiest airports, including Singapore’s Changi Airport, New Delhi International Airport, and Sydney International Airport. Fiji Airports CEO Mesake Nawari expressed enthusiasm for the master plan, emphasizing its potential to enhance the company’s non-aeronautical revenue streams, while continuing to support their primary operations in air traffic and airport management.
The landside master plan will coincide with the airside master plan for Nadi Airport, scheduled for development between 2024 and 2048. Immediate upgrades are already underway, including enhancements to facilities and infrastructure, the construction of new gates and a state-of-the-art domestic terminal, as well as expanding car parking and replacing existing passenger boarding tunnels with new aerobridges. Additional projects will feature the extension of departure lounges, new off-gate aprons, and further expansions to the domestic apron.
