Fiji Airports is set to embark on an extensive 10-year development program, featuring 18 ambitious projects aimed at upgrading Nadi and Nausori Airports, as revealed in a recent company statement. In an effort to enhance the infrastructure, Fiji Airports has appointed COX Architecture Pty Ltd as a consultant to devise a comprehensive landside master plan for both airports.

COX Architecture, based in Australia, was selected through a competitive tender process, owing to its extensive experience in handling significant infrastructure projects, including work at renowned locations such as Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 3, New Delhi International Airport Terminal 3, and Sydney International Airport.

Fiji Airports CEO Mesake Nawari expressed enthusiasm regarding the new master plan for Nadi and Nausori Airports, emphasizing its potential to diversify the company’s business beyond aviation management. The consultant is expected to complete the master plan within 32 weeks.

The landside plan will complement the simultaneous 2024-2048 airside master plan for Nadi Airport. Upcoming improvements will include enhancing existing facilities, constructing new gates, and building a state-of-the-art domestic terminal. Moreover, plans are in place for additional car parking, new aerobridges to replace the current passenger boarding tunnels, extending the departure lounge, and expanding aprons and domestic gates.

This proactive approach towards modernizing airport infrastructure will not only enhance the travel experience for passengers but also contribute to the economic growth of Fiji through improved capabilities and increased tourism potential.

Summary: Fiji Airports is initiating an extensive 10-year upgrade plan for Nadi and Nausori Airports, hiring COX Architecture to develop a landside master plan. The program will include major enhancements such as a new domestic terminal, additional parking, and increased gate capacity, aimed at diversifying business and boosting tourism in Fiji.
