Fiji Airports Unveils $8.6M Terminal Transformation Plan

Fiji Airports has awarded an $8.6 million contract to Pacific Building Solutions Group for construction at the Labasa Terminal. The selection of Pacific Building Solutions was carried out through a comprehensive tender process.

This new project follows a previous $10 million investment aimed at upgrading pavements at five outer airports, including Labasa. The Labasa Terminal project involves the construction of a temporary terminal, the demolition of the existing terminal, and the building of a new permanent terminal with distinct areas for arrivals and departures.

Construction of the temporary terminal is set to begin in the first week of October, with an expected completion date in January 2025. The main terminal construction is slated to start in January 2025 and be completed by June 2026.

Fiji Airports is dedicated to minimizing disruptions and keeping stakeholders updated on the developments. “We have formally communicated with Fiji Link, Northern Air, Police, taxi operators, and the shop operator at Labasa Airport regarding the project and its timelines,” stated Company Chief Executive, Mesake Nawari.

The project aims to improve the travel experience for domestic passengers and accommodate the increasing passenger traffic.
